Configuration / Scenario: for the option or system-of-interest
This section identifies specific configurations, scenarios and associated assumptions for the analysis of the Behaviour (Structural Changes) section.
This section contains a number of items:
-
One or more Options or Named configurations or scenarios
-
Key System Element and Relationship characteristics
-
Translation of relationships into interactions specific to the configuration
-
-
Typical Triggers associated with configuration
-
-
Assumptions
-
Operational modes (such as temperature or other variables) create context
-
Time series variations (wear, etc).
-
These configurations may represent different levels of performance (e.g. golf cart or F1 Racing Car). Both of these options may have a similar system structure or pattern of organization but each results in different systemic properties and performance. Another example, may be the stage of development of a person that is required to achieve performance (e.g. a child may not be suitable but a person within an adult age range may be acceptable).
Typically there is a no change scenario or configuration. Other configurations may come from development plans or requirements specifications. Other configurations may relate to business case options or frequency of use.
Translation of the relationships to interactions can also influence behaviour. These should be identified in the configuration.
Both the configurations and scenarios may also cause triggers in both cyclical and developmental processes. These need to be considered as the behavioral models are prepared.
The configurations / scenarios may result in a set of models and characteristics for cyclical and developmental models. The selected models may emerge as a set with alternative selections available based upon criteria.
This part is developed with Stakeholders representing all of the aspects of the system. Other documents may also provide inputs into this section. Note that this is only an architectural view rather than a full detailed analysis. Some risk may need to be carried forward through the development stages.
