View: System Stakeholders and Concerns

The System-of-Interest Stakeholders are identified and their concerns or interests are included in this section.

The stakeholders help shape the description of the system through their concerns. Stakeholders are essentially establishing a concrete conceptual model of a system-of-interest to establish a common language all of the stakeholders to understand the system. The following shows the relationship of the stakeholders and their concerns to establish a system description.

System-of-Interest Conceptual Model with relationship to System Description, Thing and Stakeholder with Notes

This section identifies the typical stakeholders for a system-of-Interest . This diagram groups the stakeholders into various categories.

Stakeholder Identification

System Practitioners can take any role in the above stakeholder diagram. The stakeholders generally have knowledge about systems and knowledge about a thing domain. The following diagram shows this relationship:

System Practitioner Conceptual Model

A system practitioner has both system and thing (domain) competency. The following list highlights the various types of system practitioners:

  • System Engineering

  • Cybernetics

  • Living Systems

  • Cognitive Science

  • Complex Systems (Complexity Theory)

  • Complex Adaptive Systems

  • System Evolution and Emergence

  • Viable Systems.

  • System Dynamics

  • Control Theory

  • Systems Science

  • System Innovation

  • System Change

  • etc.

The following concerns, interests or needs have been identified for the system as a system-of-interest.

These stakeholders share their interests and concerns and help shape the understanding of this system. The stakeholder shares their interest, understanding and concerns through communication. See the diagram below for a model of stakeholder communication.
